12-month feline calendar featuring rescue cats.

Midwest University SCAAFP 16-month feline calendar

Recently, a client connected me to the SCAAFP (Student Chapter of the American Association of Feline Practitioners) at Midwestern University, College of Veterinary Medicine. The club, led by Lydia McDaniel, supports educational programs and charitable causes specific to cats. A member of the club saw my work and reached out to me about helping them with a fundraising project. I am a huge advocate for pet rescue efforts and I was delighted to support SCAAFP of MWU in their fundraising effort.

One of the efforts SCAAFP supports is 4 Paws Rescue, a non-profit, no-kill cat shelter located in Sun City, AZ. They provide care for cats in a variety of ways; transitional care as cats are adopted or placed in foster homes until adopted or arrange placement in a permanent shelter for cats that are not appropriate for adoption. They work with other organizations dedicated to the rescue and care of homeless animals as they address the problem of pet overpopulation.

For the calendar shoot, I spent a day with fifteen of the students’ cats. Cats are always interesting subjects to photograph, each with their own unique personality in look and behavior—some confident and sassy, some more shy. One of my favorite felines to work with that day was Leila, a beautiful Lynx Point. She had some of the funniest poses!
